SOUTH GUNN'S PLAINS.

A memorial tree planting ceremony took place at South Gunn's Plains on Saturday afternoon. There was a good gathering of residents, who came to pay their respects to the memory of two soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice in the great war. Mr. Henslowe from Ulverstone gave an eloquent and sympathetic address to the people, and asked Mrs. Johns to plant the memorial tree for her son, John Ernest, who was killed in action in France. The tree was planted and dedicated to his loving memory. Mr. and Mrs. Johns have three other sons fighting for King and country somewhere in France. The other tree was planted, by Mr. Wm. Woodhouse and dedicated to the memory of Joseph Parsonage, killed in action in France.
