Johnson, Albert Edward

 

 

Born 4th August 1901 Wilmot Tasmania the son of Jabeth Samuel and Louisa Alice Johnson (nee King) a farm hand he embarked Melbourne on board “HMAT Nestor” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 25th August 1918 in France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. 

He had just turned 17 when he died.

JOHNSON. - In sad and ever loving memory of our dear son and brother, No. 8008, Private Albert Edward (Bert) Johnson, who was wounded and then killed by a passing shell while awaiting the stretcher-bearers in a sunken road beside Earl's Wood, August 25, 1918, near the village of Cappy, France, aged 17 years.
