Jolley Alfred Albert Born Kregor, Alfred Albert
He was born 18 Oct 1893 in Glaziers Bay Cygnet, Tasmania, Australia the son of Friedrich W Kregor and Ellen Singline of Cygnet. Took the surname of his mother's 2nd husband ( Edward Jolley) and used his middle name as he was the son of German immigrants wanting to fight against his parents home country. He went so far as to travel to his sister Elsie Robertson (nee Kregor) in Invercargill, NZ, and enlisted in the Auckland Infantry Battalion at Paeroa in Aug 1914, age 20. He embarked from Auckland 16 October 1914 for the Suez, arrived on 4 December. After training in Egypt, he reached Lemnos 15 April. The Lutzov took him to Gallipoli on 24th Apr 1915, where he served and survived. He was killed in action 28th September 1916 in France and is commemorated in the Caterpillar Valley Cemetery Longueval France.
