Jones Walter Henry

Born 1897 Bothwell Tasmania the son of Charles James Benjamin and Mary Ann Jones (nee Fleming) a stockman’s assistant he embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

Cpl Jones died 7th May 1917 from wounds received in the field and was buried in the Trois Arbres Cemetery, Steenwerck, France.

His brother Pte Clarence Morgan Jones (No 4527) died 10th December 1916 in England from Pneumonia and gangrene and was buried in the Portsmouth (Milton) Cemetery, United Kingdom.
