Jones, James Lindsay

 

 

Born Bridgenorth Tasmania the son of Thomas Alexander and Agnes Jones a shop assistant he embarked Melbourne 10th November 1915 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 5th April 1918 in France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France.

 

His brother 1649 Sergeant Tasman Leslie Jones MM, 40th Battalion returned to Australia, 29 August 1918
