James, Henry George
Born 26th December 1896 Scottsdale Tasmania the son of Joseph George and Anne Marie James (nee Jensen) a farm hand he embarked Melbourne 10th November 1915 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.
As a cadet he was awarded the marksman’s badge. On leaving Egypt he was appointed Company Signaller for A Company
He was serving with the 52nd Battalion when he was killed in action 3rd September 1916 in France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France
