Kilmartin, John Daly
Born 7th March 1892 Hobart Tasmania to Michael Thomas and Margaret Agatha Kilmartin (nee Daly) a clerk who embarked Melbourne 22nd November 1915 on board “HMAT Persic” with the 6th Field Artillery Brigade. Bombadier Kilmartin was killed in action 1st June 1917 about 200 metres from Ploegsteert Wood when he was hit by flying debris from a shell. Three others were killed by the same shell. He is commemorated in the London Rifle Brigade Cemetery, Belgium.
