Krushka, Oscar
He was born 1894 Derby Tasmania to William and Helen Krushka a farmer who had served on HMS Australia who departed Hobart 20th October 1914 on board “HMAT Geelong” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He incurred gunshot wounds to the thigh and abdomen on the Gallipoli Peninsula and died from those wounds 19th October 1915 on board hospital ship “Soudan” was buried at sea and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey. NOTES ON THE CASUALTY LIST. Our Derby correspondent writes - "News has been received by cable that Oscar Krushka, the youngest' son of the late Mr William Krushka, had died from wounds received on the 18th ult. at Gallipoli. He was born at Derby and was a fine young man. Much sympathy is expressed for his bereaved relatives. He left with the First Expeditionary Force prior to which he served 12 months in the Australian Navy. He was wounded at the landing at Gallipoli on April 21 last, and had only just rejoined his comrades at the front when he received the fatal wound.'' The Mercury 16th November 1915
