LEES, JAMES BARKER

LEES-Died of wounds at the Dardanelles on August 8th, 1915 James Barker Lees, the dearly beloved husband of Ruby Lees and third eldest son of Mrs Lees-Harris Rookwood, Ranelagh, In his 28th year. Sadly missed.

Our Ranelagh correspondent writes-  Quite a gloom was cast over the district when the news reached here that Private James Lees was killed in action on August 10th. For some considerable time prior to enlistment Private Lees was employed by Mr T. A. Frankeomb, of Clifton where he was known as a reliable and conscientious worker. 'Jimmy.' as he was familiarly known, was a keen sport, and possessed a fund of humour. Consequently he was one of the district's favourites. Private Lees leaves a widow, and one child to mourn their loss, and with whom the district expresses its deepest sympathy.
