Leo, John Bernard

 

Born 16th August 1890 Railton Tasmania to Edward and Mary Leo (nee Long) a labourer who embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Themistocles” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 He was killed in action 8th August 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

His brother, Pte James Francis Leo who was serving with the 26th Battalion died from wounds received in the field 11th November 1916 and was buried in the Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe, France.
