Lowry, John James

 

Born 3rd March 1886 Westbury Tasmania to James and Mary Elizabeth Lowry (nee Biddle) a labourer he embarked from Sydney 9th May 1917 on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 2nd Machine Gun Company.

 

He was with the 6th Infantry Battalion when he was wounded at Strazeele by a shell which took part of his arm and amputated both legs. He died 18th May 1918 at the 1st Australian Field Ambulance Dressing Station at Borre soon after he was admitted.

 He was buried the same day as his death in the Borre British Cemetery, France.
