Lowry, John James

Born 3^rd March 1886 Westbury Tasmania to James and Mary Elizabeth Lowry (nee Biddle) a labourer he embarked from Sydney 9^th May 1917 on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 2^nd Machine Gun Company.

He was with the 6^th Infantry Battalion when he was wounded at Strazeele by a shell which took part of his arm and amputated both legs. He died 18^th May 1918 at the 1^st Australian Field Ambulance Dressing Station at Borre soon after he was admitted.

He was buried the same day as his death in the Borre British Cemetery, France.
