LUCAS CHARLES DANIEL
LUCAS-Killed in action, 24th July, (Rev.) Lieutenant C. D. Lucas. 12th Battalion Infantry, dearly loved husband of Doris J. Lucas, Branxholm, aged 31 years 3 months. "Dead on the field of Honour." The Mercury 11 Aug 1916 His brother Lance Corporal Leonard Christopher Lucas was also Killed in Action 4th September 1916.At the annual pastoral session of the Methodist Synod Launceston district held it Scottsdale on Tuesdav feeling references were made to the death of the late Lieut C D Lucas a minister of the church who was killed in action and high appreciation of his personal character and excellent work was expressed. It was mentioned that during the last year of his active ministerial career he laboured in the Scottsdale district with marked success. In 1915 he enlisted as a private and soon rose to commissioned rank. He gallantly laid down his life in the great fight for Pozieres on July 25. The deepest sympathy of the Synod was tendered to his widow. The Mercury 11th November 1916
