Machin, Roland Frank Charles

 

 

Born Melbourne Victoria to Thomas Edward and Lottie Machin (nee Tuxworth) but living in Tasmania, a fitter he departed Melbourne 26th August 1916 on board “HMAT Botanist with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was serving as Second Lieutenant with the Australian Flying Corps when he died of wounds 18th September 1918 in France and was buried in the Brie British Cemetery France.

DIED FROM WOUNDS.

It is officially reported that Flight Lieutenant Roland Frank Machin, son of Mr Thomas Machin, of the Esplanade, Queenstown, died on September 18, from wounds received in action in France. Lieutenant Machin enlisted in Queenstown on June 14, 1916 and was prior to that date employed as a mechanic in the Mount Lyell Co.'s Railway Department.
