Marr Clifford Roy
Born Tasmania but enlisted in South Australia. Brief Record: Gallipoli 1915, Alexandria and Heliopolis 1916, France 1916, sent to England suffering from dysentery December 1916, returned to France June 1917. Killed in action 6 July 1918, Somme, France. Before his death the family had moved back to Tasmania and was living at 7 Lockner Street, West Hobart. His brother, Private John Thomas Henry Marr, 5029, 27th Battalion was killed in action, 5 November 1916, on the Somme, France There are slight variances in regard to the circumstances of Clifford Roy Marr's death and varying accounts of the location of his demise as recorded by informants present on the day and held by the Red Cross Society, however, the following account is from Hubert Francis Hartshorn, a gunner with the 11th Field Artillery Brigade, who records that he was an eye witness to Cliff's death.
