Marshall, Enock Alfred Baxter

 

Enoch Alfred Baxter Marshall was born 25 August 1894 at North Motton, Tasmania, the son of Joseph Alfred James and Mary Ellen Marshall (nee Bannon) a farm labourer who enlisted 11 August 1915 at Claremont, Tasmania

 

 He embarked from Melbourne on Board HMAT A38 Ulysses on 27 October 1915 with the 26th Battalion, 6th Reinforcement.

 

He was transferred to the 12th Battalion 1 March 1916 at Zeitoun, Egypt and arrived Marseilles, France 5 April 1916. He received a severe gunshot wound to the cheek on 23 July 1916 and was evacuated to England from Calais on 28 July 1916.

 

He returned to France 13 January 1917 and rejoined 12th Battalion and was again wounded in action 6 April 1917.

 

He died from wounds in 2nd Australian Field Ambulance Divisional Rest Station, France 10 April 1917 and was buried at Beugny, France 10 April 1917.  His remains were re-interred at Bancourt British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
