Marshall, John Herbert
Born 1890 Macquarie Plains Tasmania the son of Robert Warren and Frances Marshall (nee Koslowski) a farmer he embarked Brisbane 29th June 1915 on board “HMAT Aeneas” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 5th August 1916 in France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux. His brother Vere Claude Marshall (No 1145) died 26th September 1915 in England from wounds received on the Gallipoli Peninsula and was buried in the Netley Military Cemetery, Netley, Hampshire, United Kingdom Mr. Robert Marshall, manager of Kentdale estate, Macquarie Plains, has received notification that his son Sergeant John Marshall, was killed in action in France on August 3. One of his brothers was with him at Gallipoli and was killed in battle there. A third son of Mr. Marshall is now on the way to the front. The North Western Advocate 13th September 1916
