Marshall, Lancelot Lewin
He was born 1897 Deloraine Tasmania to Richard and Julia Harriet Marshall (nee Downes) a storeman who embarked Melbourne 1st. August 1916 on board “HMAT Orsova” with the 13th Field Artillery Brigade. He was killed in action 21st August 1917 and is commemorated in the Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, France. ULVERSTONE. On Thursday evening the Rev. E. A Salisbury conveyed to Mrs. Marshall, Chestnut Villa the distressing intelligence that her only son, Gunner L. L. Marshall (Lance), had been killed m action on August 21. This young soldier was well known in Ulverstone as he had practically resided there since boyhood after the death of his father, who was in charge of Ulverstone as Sub-Inspector of Police. Deceased enlisted in January, 1916, and served with the 13th Field Artillery. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved family The North Western Advocate 8th September 1917
