Marshall, Sydney Alexander Gordon

 

 

Born 1st June 1898 Ulverstone Tasmania to Enoch and Margaret Marshall (nee Shipp) and was a grocer’s assistant when he enlisted.

He embarked Hobart 1st. July 1916 on the “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion.

 

During the advance on Passchendaele Pte Marshall was bunkered down in a shell hole when another shell made a direct hit on his location.

 

He was first listed missing in action but this was later changed to killed in action 13th October 1917.
