Martin, James

 

 

Born 22nd Dec 1893 Sheffield Tasmania John Davis and Elizabeth Martin (nee Blake) he was a school teacher when he enlisted and was posted to the 40th Battalion.

He was killed in action 24th August 1918 in France.

 News has been received of the death of Private James Martin, who was killed in action on August 24. The deceased enlisted some two years ago from Lower Barrington. He was formerly a trainee at the Philip Smith Training College, and later had charge of the State schools at Dundas, Pioneer, Ringarooma, and Lower Barrington. He leaves a wife and a young child.
