Born 30^th March 1886 Launceston Tasmania to Jacob and Eliza Alice Marx, a farmer he enlisted New Zealand with the 10th Reinforcements Auckland Infantry Battalion, A Company and departed Wellington New Zealand 4^th March 1916 on board “Willouchra” bound for Egypt.

He was killed in action 7^th June 1917 at Messines and is commemorated on the Messines Ridge (NZ) Memorial, Belgium.
