Matheson, William Thomas

 

Born 12th May 1895 Zeehan Tasmania to William Thomas and Mary Ann Matheson (nee Barker) a miner who embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Ceramic” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 3rd May 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated in Quinn's Post Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.

Private W.T. Matheson, killed in action at the Dardanelles was a resident of Dundas from boyhood until 18 months previous to enlisting. He was then in Gormanston and Lyell. His father was killed some years ago on the Dundas railway line. His mother is now a Mrs. Muir lately residing in Ringwood, Victoria. He enlisted in Gormanston. Of the five Dundas lads three have been killed,
