Maxwell, John Arthur
Born 1872 Hobart Tasmania, a 34 year old labourer from Burnie he embarked Brisbane 29th June 1915 on board “HMAT Aeneas” with the 26th Infantry Battalion.
He died 10th September 1916 in England from wounds and was buried in the Northampton (Towcester Road) Cemetery, United Kingdom.
Official notification has been received at District Headquarters that Private J. A. Maxwell, 26th Battalion, died on September 10th at the War Hospital, Ormston, being previously reported ill. The next of-kin of this soldier is stated to be Mr. W. A. Maxwell, of Burnie; but as no trace of Mr. W. A. Maxwell can be found, the authorities ask that he communicate with District Headquarters, 6th Military District.
