It was with sincere regret that the news was received here writes our Emita (Flinders Island) correspondent of he death while fighting at the front in France of Mr Frank Maynard. The deceased was the son of the late Mr John Maynard who died more than a year ago and who was then one of the very few remaining original Tasmanian half castes. Mr Frank Maynard, with his brother William and several others joined the forces not long after war broke out and served throughout the operations on the Gallipoli Peninsula and afterwards being transferred to France. The deceased was a very steady promising young man and well liked and respected by all who knew him. The Weekly Courier 26th October 1916
