McCrory, Robert
He was born 1884 Launceston Tasmania the son of John and Mary Jane McCrory (nee Quaile) a grocer who embarked Hobart 13th December 1915 on board “HMAT Ajana” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. He was serving with the 12th Battalion when he was killed in action 11th August 1918 and is commemorated in the Fouquescourt British Cemetery, France.
Word was received on Saturday that Private Robert McCrory, eldest son of the late John McCrory of Sheffield and Mrs McCrory now of 22 Selburne Street Auorn Victoria had been killed in action on August 11th. Deceased was 34 years of age and had been three years on active service. Prior to enlisting he was employed by Mr James Beek grocer Charles Street. Deceased has another brother on active service whilst a third was recently invalided home. The Weekly Courier 5th September 1918
