McCulloch, William Lindsay

 

 

He was born 1882 Ulverstone Tasmania to George and Elizabeth McCulloch (nee Stratton) a tram driver who embarked Sydney 12th May 1915 on board “HMAT Themistocles” with the 17th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 26th July 1916 at Pozieres and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.

His brother Cpl Arthur Julius Stewart McCulloch (359) was also killed at Pozieres three days earlier 23rd July 1916 and is also commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.  Two other brothers Sgt R J McCulloch and Driver E G McCulloch both served four years overseas and returned to Australia.
