MCDOUGALL, ALLAN BENSON
Studio portrait of 5146 Allan Benson McDougall, who left Australia with 16th Reinforcement, 12th Battalion, and was later killed in action at Mouquet Farm, France, with 52nd Battalion, on 1916-09-04. He was the son of William Charles McDougall of Middleton, Tas. and a cousin of Stan McDougall VC
Mr. and Mrs. W McDougall of Middleton, have received official information that their son, Private Allan B. McDougall previously reported missing, was killed in action on September I, 1916. Private McDougall left Tasmania in March of last year with reinforcements for the 12th Battalion but joined up with another battalion upon arrival in Egypt. He was a bomb thrower and one of the many brave soldiers who made the great sacrifice between Pozieres and Mouquet Farm. He was 21 years of age and a general favourite throughout the district.
