McMaster, John
Pre-war studio portrait of 2073 Private (Pte) John McMaster, 15th Battalion who enlisted Hobart. A baker from Northcote, Victoria prior to enlistment, Pte McMaster embarked with the 5th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Hororata on 17 April 1915. Whilst serving at Gallipoli he was wounded in action and evacuated to Heliopolis. Following his recovery he rejoined his unit in Belgium and was promoted to Lance Corporal. On 28 September 1917 he was killed in action and, having no known grave, is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres,
