7th June 1919 Advocate Burnie Mr. R. J. Meagher, of Hobart, has received information from France that, after a lengthy search, the burial place of his son, Lieutenant Norman Meagher, 40th Batt. has been found. Lieutenant Meagher was killed in action on October 4, 1917, at Broodseinde. He, as well as other Tasmanians who were killed in the same engagement, had to be buried where he fell, as the ground was under heavy shell fire all the time. The bodies of these men are now being removed to a cemetery at Ypres, and the graves are being suitably marked.
