Our Burnie correspondent writes

"A wave of sorrow pissed over Burnie when the sad news became known that Machine Gunner George Miles had made the supreme sacrifice in obeying his country’s call. The deceased soldier was the eldest son of Mr H F Miles Government Surveyor of Henrietta and left for the front in the early stages of the war. The deepest sympathy is extended to Mr and Mrs Miles and family in their sad bereavement.
