Montgomery, Alex
He died from wounds 1st March 1917 and was buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
Mrs. R. Montgomery of Branxholm has received word that
her youngest son, Private Alex Montgomery, had died from
wounds received in action. The sad news was conveyed to
the parents on Sunday evening by the Rev. Mr.
McDonald. This is the second son to
make the supreme sacrifice for King and country, the
other son Private Wallace Montgomery, being killed at
Gallipoli. Two other sons, Privates Arthur and Walter
Montgomery are also on active service. The late Private
Alex Montgomery had been at the front for about twelve
months
