Moore George Francis
Born 29th February 1880 Evandale Tasmania the son of George Francis and Mary Ann Moore (nee Jones) and married to Amy Bertha Grenda with four children a carpenter he embarked Melbourne 20th October 1916 on board “HMAT Port Lincoln” with the 38th Intantry Battalion.
He was killed in action 7th June 1917 at Messines and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Flanders, Belgium
Word was received at Scottsdale on Sunday afternoon that Private George Moore had been killed in action in France. Private Moore was 37 years of age, and leaves a widow and four young children. He enlisted in November in Victoria, and he had only been in France about a month when the news of his death was received. The late soldier was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Moore, of Scottsdale, and his widow is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Grenda, also of Scottsdale Examiner Launceston 4th July 1917
