Last week Mr and Mrs E Morgan High Street Launceston received word that their son Major Price J Morgan had died of wounds in France on April 4th. A solemn memorial service was conducted on Sunday evening at the Launceston Tabernacle by Rev H. H Jeffs. A number of officers and men of the citizen and cadet forces were present in uniform and the military band, under the leadership of Sergeant Gooding led the singing. The preacher took his text from Cor 1 “For now we see through a glass darkly but then face to face. He referred to the retiring disposition of the youth who would not desire the plaudits of men but who richly deserved a tribute of respect and gratitude for all he had done. Winning a scholarship at 12 years of age at Charles Street school he acquitted himself brilliantly in the junior and senior examinations securing a scholarship at each but deciding to follow a military career he secured top place for Tasmania in the competitive examination for Duntroon. His name and deeds would be enshrined in the hearts and memories of comrades and friends to the end of life The Weekly Courier 26th April 1917
