WW1
Morgan, Stanley Roy Born 1889 Carrick Tasmania the son of John and Lilian Morgan a farmer he embarked Melbourne 28th October 1915 on board SS Hawkes Bay with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment. He was serving with the 10th Brigade Australian Field Artillery when he was killed in action 11th April 1917 in France and is commemorated in the Ecoust Military Cemetery, Ecoust-St Mein, France WAR CASUALTIES. Again it is a painful duty to note from late casualty lists from the front — the death of Gunner S. R. Morgan, Strahan, killed in action at the front. The young soldier was a son of our late state school master (Mr Morgan), who is now stationed at Sheffield. Mr Morgan's cup of sorrow is truly filled to overflow now for only recently he lost his wife, and now he is bereft of one who died for his King and country. May that knowledge lighten his burden as time goes on
