Murray, Horace Victor

 

Born 17th October 1897 Mathinna Tasmania to Thomas and Sarah Louisa Murray (nee Nuttle) a labourer who embarked Melbourne 24th August 1916 on “HMAT Botanist” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 He was killed in action 5th May 1917 in France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France

TASMANIAN CASUALTIES

Rev. A. Salisbury, Ulverstone, conveyed to Mrs. Murray the sad intelligence that her husband Pte. Horace Victor Murray had been killed in action between May 5 and 8, in France.  He 1eft Tasmania nine months ago staying in England for some time, leaving for France about three months ago, since then he had seen some heavy fighting
