Newitt, Francis Reginald
Born 9th February 1882 Sorell Tasmania to William and Julia Ann Newitt (nee Grigg) a miner who departed Melbourne 10th November 1915 on board “HMAT Ascanius” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action instantly by a bullet to the head 10th June 1917 at Messines and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
