Studio portrait of two soldiers. Identified as: 3183 Private (Pte) Horace Gurney (Gurned) Whitmore, 10th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion, of Hobart, Tas (right); and 3163 Pte James Leslie Nunn, 10th Reinforcements, 12th Battalion, of Launceston, Tas. Pte Whitmore enlisted on 4 August 1915 and embarked from Fremantle aboard HMAT Themistocles on 13 October 1915. He was wounded at Mouquet Farm, France, on 3 September 1916 and died on 3 October 1916. Pte Nunn enlisted on 27 July 1915 and embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Port Lincoln on 16 October 1915. He was killed in action on 16 March 1918 in France
