ORCHARD, WILLIAM AUGUSTUS
Studio portrait of 727 Private (Pte) William Augustus (Gus) Orchard, 10th Company, Machine Gun Corps, of Launceston, Tas. A farm labourer prior to enlisting on 16 March 1916, Pte Orchard embarked from Hobart, Tas, aboard HMAT Berrima on 1 July 1916. He was wounded in France and died of those wounds, on 11 April 1918, in Brookwood, Surrey, England, aged 45
