Owen, Herbert Edward Roy
Born 29th March 1895 Stanley Tasmania to Harry Robert and Sarah Owen (nee Row) an orchardist who embarked Melbourne 25th October 1916 on board “HMAT Ulysses” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed 14th March 1918 in action at Hill 60 and is buried in the Spoilbank Cemetery, Belgium. His brother Pte Archie Walter Owen (No 6847) died from wounds 23rd July 1918 and was buried in the Longuenesse (St Omer) Souvenir Cemetery, France. Another brother Pte Reginald Tudor Owen (No 3326) was invalided back to Tasmania with a gunshot wound to the right foot and a fractured left ankle.
