Owens, Leslie John

 

He was born Penguin Tasmania to James Allisin and Clara Elizabeth Owens (nee Brooks) a farmer who embarked Melbourne 4th June 1915 on board “HMA Ajana” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

 

He joined the Battalion on the Gallipoli Peninsula 2nd August 1915 and one week later was posted as missing in action.  A court of enquiry found he had been killed in action 9th August 1915.

 He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
