PARRY, ATHOL WYNNE
The initial grave of 2027 Gunner (Gnr) Athol Wynne Parry, 3rd Field Artillery Brigade. Gnr Parry, a clerk from Launceston, Tas prior to enlistment, embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Geelong on 17 September 1914. On 11 May 1915 he was killed in action aged 19 and was buried in the Brown's Dip Cemetery, Gallipoli. Following the consolidation of many grave sites at the end of the war, he was re-interred in the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli
Gunner A. W. Parry who was killed in action belonged to Deloraine and the news of his death has been received in that district with general regret. Gunner Parry was educated at the Launceston Church Granmmar School and was for some time a member of the Launceston Artillery holding the rank of bombardier. He enlisted with the artillery reinforcements, and was attached to the Third Brigade Ammunition Column. The Examiner 23rd July 1915
