Payne Thomas Andrew

 

 

 

Born Lefroy Tasmania, a bottlemaker living in New South Wales he listed his uncle James Evans of Hobart as his next of kin,  he embarked Sydney 11th February 1915 on board “HMAT Seang Choon” with the 2nd Infantry Battalion.

 

He served Gallipoli and was invalided back to Australia for discharge on the 3rd September 1915 on board hospital transport “Ulysses’.  He returned to the front 22nd August 1916 on board “HMAT Wiltshire.

 

He was killed in action 9th April 1917 in France and is commemorated on the Beaumetz Cross Roads Cemetery, Beaumetz, Bapaume Cambrai Area, France
