A VICTIM TO MENINGITIS

PRIVATE PEACHEY'S FUNERAL. HOBART, Monday

The funeral of the late Pte. Ernest James Peachey, who died of cerebro spinal meningitis at the Hobart General Hospital late on Friday evening took place with full military honors this afternoon. The cortege, which consisted of a gun carriage bearing the coffin and drawn by six horses and about 200 members of the Expeditionary Forces, under the command of Camp Commandant (Major R. P. Smith), left the General Hospital at 3 p.m., and headed by the A. I. F. Band, proceeded to Cornelian Bay cemetery. The burial took place in the Baptist portion of the cemetery, the service at the grave being conducted by the Rev. F. W. Boreham. The coffin bore several wreaths. The deceased soldier's parents, who reside at Guildford Junction, Emu Bay Railway, were among those present.
