Pearce, Henry George
Born Cambridge Tasmania the son of John and Jane Pearce a wharf labourer he embarked Brisbane 5th October 1915 on board “HMAT Warilda” with the 26th Infantry Battalion. Corporal Pearce died 30th November 1916 at the No 1 Australian Hospital in France from shell wounds to the arm and leg. He was was buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, Seine Maritime, France Mr. John L. Pearce 21 Hill-street, West Hobart has received word that his eldest son, Corporal Henry George Pearce who was severely wounded in the leg and arm died on November 30. The deceased soldier was a fine strapping young fellow of splendid physique and was popular among his comrades. He went from Tasmania with the 5th Reinforcements for the 26th Battalion The Mercury 9th December 1916
