Peebles, George
He was born 1898 Sassafras Tasmania the son of James Robert and Margaret Peebles a labourer who embarked Hobart 1st July 1916 on board “HMAT Berrima” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. He died 1st February 1917 from wounds received in the field and was buried in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, France. His brother Pte Andrew Henderson Peebles (No 3376) was killed in action 28th March 1917 and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
