Robert Eric Penty (1890-1916)

 

The All Australian Memorial History, Heroes and Helpers

Born Swansea Tasmania to Robert and Charlotte Penty (nee Beedham) an articled clerk he embarked Sydney 20th December 1915 on board “HMAT Aeneas” with the 18th Infantry Battalion. 

 He was killed in action 28th July 1916 at Pozieres and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.

His brother Basil Penty (No 2210) was also killed in action in France on the 1st January 1917 and is commemorated in the Guards' Cemetery, Lesboeufs, France.

Private Robert Eric Penty, son of the Rev. R. and Mrs. Penty, Orr-street Bondi, has been killed in action. He was doing the finals in law when he left for the front, and was articled to Mr. Rupert McCoy. His brother, who is fighting in France, was wounded at Lone Pine.
