Studio portrait of 1168 Private (Pte) (later Corporal) Alan Pitt, D Company, 26th Battalion, of Hobart, Tas. Formerly a draper, Pte Pitt enlisted at Richmond, Tas, on 8 April 1915, and he embarked from Brisbane, Qld, on 29 June 1915 aboard HMAT Aeneas (A60). He served on the Western Front and was killed in action in France, on 5 November 1916, aged 25
