If you could spare a few dollars to help with the running costs of hosting this website to keep it alive would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou from Gravesites of Tasmania in advance.

Plumley Charles Edward

Born 1889 Deloraine Tasmania to Charles and Catherine Plumley (nee Cooke) a labourer, he departed Melbourne 19th February 1915 on board “HMAT Runic” with the 15th Infantry Battalion.

He was killed in action 5th July 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.

Charles Plumley reported killed in action was a son of Mr. and Mrs Charles Plumley, of Vinegar Hill, Sheffield. He was a particularly bright and promising young man, 25 years of age and a prominent footballer. He had been in the past the right hand of his father when carrying out road contracts. The sad event casts quite a number of families in the Stoodley Railton and Sheffield districts into sorrow.

The Examiner 2nd August 1915
