Born 1892 Hamilton Victoria the son of James Richard and Louisa Porter (nee Sturgess) married to Elizabeth Moore Stipek he enlisted Pontville Tasmania a miner he embarked Melbourne 22nd December 1914 on board “HMAT Themistocles” with the 12th Infantry Battalion.

 

He was killed in action 7th August 1915 on the Gallipoli Peninsula (previously reported missing) and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Cemetery, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Province, Turkey.
