Pregnell Sydney George

Born 21st September 1884 Cygnet Tasmania the son of John Charles and Louisa Pregnell married to Annie Agnes Denny a farmer he embarked Melbourne 30th October 1917 on board “HMAT Aeneas” with the 40th Infantry Battalion. 

He died 2nd September 1918 at the 6th General Hospital from gunshot wounds to the arm, face and leg and was buried in the St Sever Cemetery Extension, Haute-Normandie, France. 

His brother Pte James Pregnell (No 3554) also of the 40th Battalion returned to Australia 3rd March.

PREGNELL - Killed in action in France on August 26, 1918, Private Sydney George (Joe) Pregnell, dearly loved husband of Annie A. Pregnell and eldest son of Mrs C Crisp, in his 33rd year.  He nobly did his duty.
