Purcell, John
Born 1894 Hobart Tasmania the son of John William and Esther Elizabeth Purcell (nee Punshon) a carpenter he embarked Melbourne 30th September 1916 on board “HMAT Palermo” with the 12th Infantry Battalion. He was killed in action 6th May 1917 France and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France. His brother in law Alfred Daniel Williams was killed in action 5th May 1917 at Bullecourt France and is also commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux PURCELL.-In sad but loving memory of my dear son and son-in-law, Pte. J. Purcell, aged 22 years and Pte. A. D. Williams, who was killed In action somewhere in France," April 6th to 10th, 1917. Inserted by his loving mother and father, J. and E. Purcell; also brothers and sisters.
